Members of the public, such as academics, historians and researchers, can request copies of restricted records managed by AHWA for the purpose of general research.
Anyone is eligible to apply.
For privacy reasons, general researchers can only access information about another person with the written consent of that person, or if they are deceased, the written consent of the oldest closest living ancestor.
Where no consent is provided, general researchers will likely receive redacted copies of those records.
All applications are assessed under the Policy for Access to Restricted Records Managed by Aboriginal History
The Policy for Access to Restricted Records Managed by AHWA is currently under review. If you have any questions please contact us.
