Pedestrian access

Access to and from Francis Street

There is an accessible parking bay and drop off bay on Francis Street.

A ramp leads into the Perth Cultural Centre and has a 1:20 gradient.

From the centre  facing the central walkway (south) the access to the WA Museum Boola Bardip is on the left. Access to the State Library of WA is on the right with the Art Gallery of WA and Picabar ramp through the central walkway.

Access to the William Street level — Alex Hotel, State Theatre Centre of WA, Blue Room Theatre, PICA and Picabar — is by walking past the State Library of WA to the lift down to the State Library Carpark (ground floor).

Access from James Street to and from Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts (PICA), Blue Room Theatre and the central walkway

An accessible path of travel is available between James Street and the central walkway via the Cultural Centre carpark lift, Level 3 (Urban Orchard level) to Level 1 and using the vehicle route through the carpark at Level 1.

The exit from Level 1 (adjacent to an accessible bay) provides direct access to the public entrances of PICA, Picabar and The Blue Room Theatre.

A walkway with a 1:14 gradient has been constructed at the State Theatre Centre James Street entrance to provide access to PICA, Picabar and The Blue Room as well as access to William Street from the Cultural Centre Level 1 carpark exit.

Access from James Street to State Library of WA, WA Museum Boola Bardip and central elevated walkway via CPP State Library lift

Access from James Street to the State Library entrance is via the James Street ramp that connects to the CPP State Library ground level entrance. The ground level lift (located near 2 accessible bays) provides access to the Plaza Level which connects to the State Library of WA main entrance, Central Walkway, Art Gallery of WA and WA Museum Boola Bardip.

Accessible parking bays are located just inside the ground level entrance and are replicated on each level of the carpark.

Access to and from Beaufort Street

The James Street Mall remains open at the Beaufort Street end of the cultural precinct and allows access to the heart of the Cultural Centre through the WA Museum Boola Bardip.

Access can be gained at the Epoch Café entry which has a platform lift. This is indicated at 3 on the accessibility map.

An accessible ramp runs along the edge of the WA Museum and into the central courtyard — known as the City Room. The City Room opens into the centre of the Cultural Centre and faces directly onto the State Library with the central walkway which provides access to the Art Gallery of WA and Picabar on your right.

Walking along the side of the State Library of WA towards Northbridge leads to the State Library carpark lift. This lift goes down to William Street Level (ground level) and provides access to the Alex Hotel, Blue Room Theatre, Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts and State Theatre Centre of WA.
